The Lone Tree girls tied meet host Mediapolis with 28 points, but finished second on the tiebreaker at the Indian Hills Golf Course on Thursday, Oct. 13.

Macie Bopp led the Lady Lions with a third place finish, while Caleb Brase finished fourth in the boys race, as the Highland boys finished fifth out of six teams.

Lone Tree had four of the top eight finishers, led by Bopp who finished with a time of 22:38. Sydney Alt was fourth with a time of 23:01 and Natalie Patterson was sixth, finishing with a time of 23:29. Emily Feldman finished eighth with a time of 23:44.

Due to an error, times were not available for runners placing outside the top ten.

Highland’s Zoe Mahler finished 11th, followed by Alli Brand in 14th, Kate McFarland in 19th and Emily Yahnke in 20th. Lone Tree’s Lucy Bloomer was 21st.

Allison Renfro of Mediapolis took first place with a time of 20:39.

Matt Hellige of Holy Trinity won the boys’ race with a time of 17:43. The next four runners were separated by just ten seconds, with Brase taking fourth place, just seven seconds behind Gage Johnson of Mediapolis in second. Aiden Housman finished three seconds behind Brase, giving Wapello a two-point edge over Holy Trinity for the boys title.

Josh Brand was the next Husky to cross the finish line with a 17th place time of 19:23. Bryan Redlinger was 31st with a time of 20:17 and Nic Rath was 39th with a time of 21:18.

Jeff Hudson of Lone Tree ran a new personal best time of 21:38 to finish 42nd.

Highland’s Nathan Butler was 47th with a time of 22:35, Sam Smith was 57th, finishing in 24:58 and Matt Butler was 61st.
