ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

Conflicts of interest and a lack of reconciliations of utility accounts are just a few of the items noted in recent audit of the city of Riverside.

The May 4 state audit report, which covered July 1, 2016, - June 30, 2017, cited a number of issues with the city’s finances and record keeping.

One of the items was regarding payments made to former utility clerk – who is now the full-time city clerk – Becky LaRoche.

During the fiscal year, the city paid LaRoche $16,000 in rent for the Riverside History Center’s building.

Also during that same time period, the city paid Councilman Ralph Schnoebelen’s company, Schnoebelen Inc., $15,278 for repairs and maintenance. Schnoebelen no longer sits on the City Council.
