Iowa Secretary of State Paul D. Pate has said that fraud in elections exists, but he does not believe it is widespread in Iowa. He has advocated for the need to modernize Iowa’s elections technology. In fact, a bill passed by the Iowa Legislature this past session was entitled the Elections Modernization and Integrity Act. A portion of the modernization components in the bill was funding to counties to institute electronic poll books in all 99 counties.
A column in the Kalona News July 29 by Ron Rife incorrectly stated Pate’s position on voter fraud.
