ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

Each year, the Johnson County Board of Supervisors, coordinating with other county elected officials and department heads, conducts a thorough budgeting process to create the county’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The public is invited to attend any and all meetings.

Budget meetings include specific department budget discussions. Audio of all budget work sessions will be live-streamed at www.johnson-county.com. Check the website to confirm the schedule and view or print meeting agendas. Meeting dates, times and department discussions are subject to change.

All meetings are scheduled to take place in the board room on the second floor of the Johnson County Administration Building, 913 S. Dubuque St., Iowa City.

The first meeting was on Monday, Nov. 19. Department-specific meetings wrap up in early January 2019, with general budget discussions and decisions occurring in January.

A public hearing will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019. The board will discuss the budget the following week and will vote on it Thursday, March 7, 2019.

County budgets must be filed with the State of Iowa by March 15, 2019.
