The annual Kalona Days celebration is right around the corner.
This year’s event will take place downtown on Saturday, June 23.
The day begins at 7 a.m. with registration at the Chamber of Commerce for the fun runs. The one-mile run starts at 7:40 a.m., and the 5K starts off at 8 a.m.
Lineup for the parade also begins at 8 a.m. at the Kalona Sales Barn, and the parade will get underway at 10 a.m.
This year’s grand marshals are Kalona Optimist charter members Emil Schlabaugh, Ed Yoder and J.D. Boyd.
Following the parade, the hub of activity will be in the KCTC lot, east of the Chamber of Commerce. The kids’ tent, entertainment and food vendors will all be located on the lot.
The kids’ tent will be open for activities, including games and prizes, face-painting, a corn pit, pony rides and an Amish photo backdrop. There will be a kiddie tractor pull in front of the Chamber of Commerce as well.
There will be live entertainment throughout the day.
Between acts, the Kalona Optimist Club will be giving away kids bicycles.
This year’s planning committee members are Kaylin Brokaw, Lydia Hassman, Alvin Kramer, Danielle Johnson, Marcus Hall and Nikki Sisson.
