ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

OTTUMWA - A couple of former Golden Hawks have led the Indian Hills cross country program to a top-25 ranking in 2016.

Sophomore Jared Draper is the Warriors’ number one runner and is fourth on the all-time list at the program.

“We are hoping to have him in the top 25 at conference, and All-American at the national meet,” said Indian Hills cross country coach Scott Barnes.

Draper finished first at the Yellowjacket Open at Graceland University in September, finishing the 6K course in 21:18. Draper led the Warriors to one of the best all-around performences in program history, finishing ahead of host and 20th ranked Muskegon at the Jayhawk invitational on Friday, Oct. 14. Indian Hills finished seventh out of 17 teams overall. Draper finished the 8K in 27:05 to finish 42nd, while Luke Sigler was 93rd with a time of 28:12.

“Luke Sigler is having an amazing freshman year,” said Barnes. “He is our fifth runner in the team right now, and we are hoping for him to run in the top 25 and get all-conference.”
