The Mid-Prairie junior varsity squad moved to 7-2 on the season with a split doubleheader at Iowa City Regina.
In the first game, Brayden Gingerich earned the win from the mound in a 8-5 win. Gingerich went three and two-thirds innings and allowed zero earned runs on four hits. He struck out one batter.
The Golden Hawks struck early and put five runs up in the first inning. Mid-Prairie scored three of those runs off of walks. The other two came from a two-RBI single from Gingerich.
Regina notched three runs in the bottom of the first, but the Mid-Prairie offense stayed hot in the second. An Aidan Rath triple scored Kayden Reinier and Colton Hobbs to make the score 7-3.
The Golden Hawks final run on the day came on a Hobbs single that scored Jake Swartzendruber.
In the 8-4 game two loss, Vinnie Bowlin and Reinier took the mound for the Golden Hawks.
Rath had another triple in game two and had another two RBIs.
Regina scored two in the third and five in the fourth to take the lead. The Golden Hawks scored three in the top of the fifth, but couldn’t complete the full comeback.
